Our Values & Approach
We are a client-centred service built on compassion, clinical expertise, and evidence-based practice. Every journey begins with a comprehensive assessment and a detailed conversation about what truly matters to the individual. From there, we develop tailored rehabilitation plans focused on real-world goals, whether that’s walking more confidently, improving upper limb function, increasing independence with daily tasks, or reducing fatigue.
Our approach combines hands-on physiotherapy with modern rehabilitation techniques, technology, and structured home programmes. We continually adapt treatment as progress is made, ensuring therapy remains relevant, challenging, and effective. Above all, we believe in building strong therapeutic relationships. We work closely with clients and their families, supporting not just physical recovery, but confidence, motivation, and quality of life.
Every milestone matters, no matter how small.
Our Services & Location
Cortex Physiotherapy delivers specialist neurological and complex rehabilitation through both clinic-based and domiciliary (home visit) services, ensuring care is accessible and tailored to individual needs. We understand that mobility, fatigue, and transport can be barriers to attending appointments. That’s why we offer flexible therapy in the clinic or at home, depending on what best supports each person’s goals and circumstances.
Our clinic is based at the Ingram Enterprise Centre in Kilmarnock (pictured below), providing a private, fully equipped space for assessment and structured rehabilitation. We also provide home visits across Ayrshire and surrounding areas, bringing physiotherapy directly to clients in their own environment.
We support a wide range of conditions, including neurological rehabilitation (stroke, MS, Parkinson’s, brain injury, cerebral palsy), complex disabilities, musculoskeletal issues, post-operative recovery, pain management, and falls prevention.
Every service is delivered with a focus on personalised, goal-driven rehabilitation to improve independence, function, and quality of life.
About Cortex Physiotherapy
Cortex Physiotherapy is a specialist neurological and complex rehabilitation service dedicated to helping people regain independence, improve mobility, and achieve meaningful personal goals.
Founded in 2024 in Kilmarnock, Cortex Physiotherapy was created with a clear purpose, to provide high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation that is accessible, consistent, and truly tailored to the individual. We recognised a gap in services for people with complex conditions who need more time, more understanding, and more personalised support than standard physiotherapy pathways often allow.
From the beginning, our focus has been on delivering support that goes beyond routine treatment sessions. We take time to understand each person’s story, their challenges, and what they want to achieve in their everyday life. For some, that may be taking their first steps after a neurological event. For others, it may be improving hand function, building confidence to leave the house independently, or simply reducing fatigue so they can engage more fully with daily activities. We support individuals and families through some of the most life-changing and challenging conditions, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, and muscular dystrophy. Alongside this specialist neurological work, we also support people with musculoskeletal issues, post-operative rehabilitation needs, pain management and age-related mobility decline.
What sets Cortex apart is not just what we treat, but how we treat people. We understand that progress in rehabilitation is rarely linear, and that small improvements often represent significant milestones. Our approach is built on patience, consistency, and clinical reasoning, always balancing challenge with support to ensure each person can progress at their own pace.
We also place strong emphasis on continuity and relationships. Rehabilitation is most effective when there is trust, familiarity, and shared goals between therapist and client. We aim to create that environment in every interaction, working closely with individuals and their families to support not only physical recovery, but confidence, motivation, and overall wellbeing. At Cortex Physiotherapy, we don’t just focus on what has been lost... we focus on what is still possible, and how we can help each person move towards it, step by step.
