Neurological Rehabilitation
At Cortex Physiotherapy, we specialise in the assessment and rehabilitation of people living with neurological conditions that affect movement, function, and independence. Our clients come to us with a wide range of presentations, from stroke, brain injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and spinal cord injury to Guillain-Barré syndrome, cerebral palsy, Motor Neurone disease (MND), and many rarer or less well-known conditions. Every individual’s journey is unique, and our role is to provide the support, structure, and expertise needed to help each person reach their potential.
We believe that effective neurological rehabilitation should be both challenging and supportive. We always aim to create a safe, encouraging environment that allows our clients to push their boundaries, explore their abilities, and gain confidence in their movement. To make this possible, we may involve more than one member of our team during sessions, ensuring the right level of guidance, motivation, and physical support is available throughout treatment.
As a neurological specialist service, our team is highly trained in neurorehabilitation and understands the complexities of how the brain and nervous system recover following injury or disease. We use evidence-based techniques that promote neuroplasticity, the brain’s remarkable ability to form new connections and relearn lost skills. Our approach combines clinical expertise with creativity and compassion, recognising that progress is not just about physical recovery, but also about confidence, independence, and quality of life.
A neurological rehabilitation programme at Cortex typically includes a blend of functional movement retraining, balance and coordination work, strengthening, and mobility practice, alongside hands-on facilitation and sensory or postural re-education. We also work on fatigue management, spasticity reduction, and improving overall endurance and control, tailoring every session to the client’s specific needs and goals.
Whether the aim is to walk independently, regain arm and hand function, improve balance, or simply feel more confident moving around the home, our focus remains the same, to help every client move better, feel stronger, and live more fully.
